NMB POLICE ARREST TWO ADULTS FOR HOME AND SCHOOL BURGLARIES

On February 8th around 2:45 p.m., North Miami Beach Police units were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 1782 NE 177 Street.  The caller said there were two black males standing suspiciously near a window in the rear yard of an occupied home.  Undercover Det. N. Camacho arrived in the area within 5 minutes, parked a distance away, and approached the alley on foot to silently observe the offenders.  He immediately saw the offenders standing at the rear of the house.

Offenders were startled by a dog barking inside the home, and fled over a fence into an alleyway.  The NMB Street Crimes Unit maintained visual surveillance discreetly on the subjects walking away, while another unit confirmed that a rear window of the home had been broken and a burglary attempt.  More patrol units arrived, established a perimeter, and police moved in and apprehended both subjects.

Subjects had not gained full entry into the home, and didn’t have the opportunity to take any property. Later in the investigation it was discovered that one of the subject’s goal in this burglary was to enter the home to retrieve a laptop of his.   Upon locating the laptop a police check revealed it was stolen in a weekend burglary of the JFK Middle School in NMB, sometime from May 7 through 9, 2011.  In that burglary the subjects took projectors and a laptop (under case 2011-06103).

NMBPD Det. Daise immediately contacted Miami Dade School Police and they responded.  Det. Daise interviewed both subjects and they both admitted to being at the residence on the day of their arrest, and one admitted that their purpose of being there was to burglarize the home.   Both were charged with Occupied Burglary to the residence.  Davenson was also charged with Burglary to the School.  The recovered laptop was returned to the School.  Photos of both arrestees are attached above.  There is no video on this residential burglary case.  Still photos of the laptop and broken window are available upon request.

NMB POLICE ARREST ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT MOMENTS AFTER THE ACT

Date / Time :  Monday February 6th at 12:41 p.m.

Case number:  2012-0206-15

Location:    2391 NE 136 Street, North Miami Beach, FL 33162

Narrative:

The lives of an attempted murder suspect and his victim were saved due to the quick response and coordinated efforts of the North Miami Beach Police Department on Monday, February 6, 2012.

The subject, William “Burt” Bardsley was visiting a friend at 2391 NE 136 Street in North Miami Beach on Monday afternoon.  While the two friends were surfing the internet, Burt asked the victim’s girlfriend to get him a glass of water.  When she left the room Burt attacked the male victim and stabbing him multiple times in the torso with a knife.  When the girlfriend returned, she smashed the glass of water over his head causing the defendant to flee the residence.

Multiple units, including Chief Gomer who was out on patrol, responded moments after the call for help was received. With the assistance of a resident, Chief Gomer, Capt. Cassarino, and Sgt. Coffey began following the subject’s blood trail for over one block.  When the blood trail stopped, the three officers split up in different directions.

Chief Gomer located the defendant on the ground at 2305 NE 136 Terrace, looking extremely pale, unconscious, and bleeding to death. The defendant was covered in blood and bleeding profusely from his wrists, injuries Police believe were likely self-inflicted. The subject was found armed with a 12-inch butcher type knife and was taken into custody.

Both the subject and the victim were airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center and received medical care. The subject was subsequently charged by Det. Stein with attempted murder and booked into the hospital ward of the Miami-Dade County Jail.

  1. I hope we can see these transparent reports of success on crimes committed right in our neighborhoods on a regular basis especially in the real high crime areas..The response times reported were excellent and had to be a contributor to the outcome.

These crimes are going to become more frequent as economic times worsen with the reality of spending cuts to entitlements like drug testing for new legislation in qualifying for food stamps…Restricting the use of cards for acholic beverages, cigarettes, and
    Strip clubs etc ….

Lingering unemployment increases at all levels of government as tax bases in many catagories decline in the next budget year. The newest homeowner relief on underwater homes and past forclosures may have an opposite effect on the future home values with even more devaluations and fire sales…..

The Miami Herald is all but a total failure in timely, accurate and inclusive NMB crime reporting in the Neighbors section of the Herald …..

  2. I am least impressed. I can still see our cops hiding behind trees in parks not doing any patrolling, something we pay $20 million a year for them to do. I will send Stef pictures of what I took out today so she can post same if she sees fit.

At any time, it seems more than 50% of our force is on vacation or running behind LETF funding outside our city, outside our state and outside our country, so they can collect more over time pay. On Aug 23rd, 2011, Int. Chief Larry Gomer promised us they would provided a “lower level of service” and “crime scene and prevention will be at a minimal level”. The NMBPD is keeping their word.

Last Tuesday 7th City Council Meeting, Mr. Gomer promised for the G5ive strip club, whatever the council voted for, he will provide the proper police back up to make sure it work. It would be good if he could relay such message and implement same for the security of our city.

    Sincerest,

    Mubarak
