WARNING: Politically Incorrect

If this column offends your sensibilities, you can’t say I didn’t warn you.  But, here goes.

Channel 7 doesn’t think it’s newsworthy to report an incident that happened right here in North Miami Beach yesterday afternoon which required a police response.  The person who answered the station’s News Desk phone told me they didn’t want the incident to “overshadow all the good things that students” all over Miami-Dade County were doing by walking out of class to protest the killing of Trayvon Martin.  He also said it was wonderful that students are voicing their opinion.

So, let me get this straight.  An Hispanic armed watchman shot and killed a 17 year old black teenager in Sanford, Florida.  Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks you already know pretty much all the details that the media has seen fit to print and broadcast 24/7.  You already know that media whore Al Sharpton has taken this opportunity to play the race card and call in the troops, including the president, who claimed that if he had a son, he would look just like Trayvon Martin.  So, if the victim had been anything but black, it wouldn’t have mattered?  Just saying.

I’m sure you’re also aware that the principals of 15 local high schools, including NMB, allowed their schools to be closed so that hordes of teenagers could march out into the streets in what the alleged grown ups hoped would be a peaceful protest.

What you don’t know is that some of the students at North Miami Beach Senior High School took the opportunity to trash a local Walgreens, an incident over which the police had to be called.  You didn’t hear that?  Of course not!  It wasn’t deemed newsworthy.

You also probably know that this tragic incident, about which no one knows all the facts yet, has been called a “hate crime” by black activists, including the aforementioned Al “Jews are Diamond Merchants” Sharpton, Louis “Hitler was a Very Great Man” Farrakhan, and of course Barack “The Police Acted Stupidly” Obama.  I’m surprised they didn’t trot out Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson to join in the fray.  Oh, wait!  STOP THE PRESSES!  Jackson did weigh in yesterday to claim that “Blacks are under attack!”

I’m quite sure if the shooter’s last name were Garcia, or Lopez, or even Sotomayor instead of Zimmerman, the words “hate crime” wouldn’t have been bandied about so quickly.  But Zimmerman?  Must be a Jew!

Aside from not reporting actual news here in North Miami Beach, I’m also betting you didn’t hear the recent story out of Kansas City about a 13 year old white boy getting beaten and doused with gasoline and set on fire by two black teenagers, who told the boy, “You get what you deserve white boy.”

I’m quite sure you didn’t hear about the Vietnamese man who was beaten unconscious to a bloody pulp by a group of black high school football players earlier this year in Los Angeles while they yelled racial slurs at him.

Or did you hear the about the story about a gay hotel manager who was viciously beaten, tied to a lamppost and burned alive for being gay?   No, I’m pretty sure you didn’t read about that horrific story over your morning coffee last October.

Weren’t those “hate crimes?”  Where was Al Sharpton?  Or Louis Farrakhan?  Or Jesse Jackson?  Or, for that matter, President Obama?

Or is it only a “hate crime” when the victim is black and the perpetrator is, well, anything but black?  If that’s the case, HOW RACIST IS THAT?

The reality is that a “hate crime” is classified as one in which the victim is attacked specifically because of the color of his skin, the religion he practices, his sexual orientation, or some other attribute that the perpetrator deems to be “offensive.”

In my opinion, there should be a full and thorough investigation of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.  There should be a trial during which all the facts of this case should come out and be made public.  If Zimmerman is found to be guilty of any charges, including murder if that’s the case, he should be held accountable for his actions and made to pay the consequences.

No one – not me, not you, and certainly not the media – knows exactly what happened the night George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin.  Not one of us can say for certain at this moment if Zimmerman shot Martin because he was black.  Claims by Zimmerman’s father refute that charge, but the truth remains to be seen.

What I do know is that Zimmerman should stand trial in a court of law and not the kangaroo court of the media.  In the meantime, I wish the usual race baiting, race card playing suspects would keep their racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic opinions to themselves.  I’m just saying.

I told you this was going to be politically incorrect.  I don’t apologize for speaking my mind and telling the truth.  If you want “politically correct,” I suggest you go read Leonard Pitts or watch MSNBC, where it’s perfectly acceptable to blame the Jews (or white people in general) for everything.  But here on Voters Opinion, I call it as I see it.  If it offends you, feel free to cancel your subscription.

  1. I truly believe that all the chatter that is going on is because they did not arrest the shooter and it seems that both he and the police there do not like black people.

    1. Chatter is one thing. But the national media circus and racial hypocrisy is another. Yes, there should be an investigation and probably an arrest. Zimmerman should answer to charges. It should also be investigated why the police did nothing. I’m not saying this isn’t a serious issue, but if the media wants to report a “hate crime,” there are plenty of those going around. Jews are being killed in France and BROOKLYN! Gays are constantly under attack. Those are true hate crimes, yet most of them are grossly under-reported, if at all. I don’t know if this particular incident was a hate drime or not, but it does warrant a full investigation regardless of the color of anyone’s skin.

  2. I do believe this case warrants an investigation and a proper trial. This case was actually not going to be given a second thought nor see the light of day had it not been for a few “noisy” individuals. Trayvon Martin’s life had been snuffed out and the incident remained dead silent for more than a month. I know of cases previously and pending of people facing charges for killing animals or maiming them and doing jail time. Mr. Trayvon Martin is not an animal, but deserves as much respect to garner a trial.

Trayvon was identified as “the suspect” in the police reports. What was he “suspected” of? Walking? Or walking with a few Skittles? Come see the rainbow. He have no rainbow to see no longer.

No reports of injuries were reported to Zimmerman in the first police report. The second report had, he received injuries. Zimmerman was also told in the recorded 911 operator call, not to pursue. This meant to human understanding, to back off, to retreat, NOT to pursue, especially when no one life was in danger. It did not mean to run after someone that ended up one of them loosing their lives. The “stand your ground law” at that time Zimmerman made the call, seemed irrelevant in this matter. Zimmerman was driving in a vehicle, got out his vehicle and pursued the “suspect”. Irrespective of the individuals race, religion or color, or what the president thinks, a life is a life and should be treated as such.

It is unfortunate for us, if this so happened, to digress to violent acts to make our point.

On another note, I could hardly help but noticing John Julien has an ad prominently being displayed on the top section of Votersopinion website proclaiming for us to “ELECT” him for State Representative, District 107 seat. Mind you, it did not say “Re-ELECT”. It said, “ELECT”. One can only elect someone to a seat if he/she is running for a seat the first time. Currently Johnny is a State Representative. So why not “RE-ELECT” Johnny. So I looked closer on the website “www.myfloridahouse.gov” at http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/representatives.aspx?SortField=district&SortDirection=desc&SessionId=70 and noticed Johhny is currently representative for District 104, and Luis R. Garcia Jr. is currently the State Representative for District 107. If Johnny runs for District 107, all of those that voted for him the last time would not be able to do so again. Only those from District 107, which does not now include Johnny supporters, will be able to decide Johnny’s fate.

Johnny has made a mistake in his ad. His ad should read “Re-ELECT” John Julien for State Representative, District 104. Can someone please notify Johnny of his mistakes, and have this corrected?

    Warmest and most generous.

    Mubarak

    1. John Julien’s ad is a paid political ad. I sent him an email with your comments, so hopefully he will fix it if there is a problem.

As for this case, which I already said was tragic, I have heard many (and conflicting) stories surrounding this shooting death. I will not repeat them here, or I would also be guilty of committing Trial by Media. According to a news report I just heard, there may be a witness. This would be a very good thing because then MAYBE we’ll find out what the truth is. I have not passed judgement on the shooter’s guilt or innocence because I DON’T KNOW THE WHOLE STORY. For that matter, Kazan, neither do you. You can make all the assumptions you want, but I will reserve my opinion until the facts are known. I do feel this should go to trial – without a doubt. Hopefully, justice will be served.

My comments were about the Media Circus that surrounds this case, and the immediate cry that it was a hate crime. Talk about jumping to conclusions! Unless it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Zimmerman specifically targeted Mr. Martin BECAUSE he was a black man, I will not jump on that bandwagon.

I also wrote this column because there are so many cases out there that are obviously hate crimes, yet the media ignores them. “You get what you deserve white boy?” Um, yeah, that sounds like “hate crime” to me. Why was there no media outrage over that one? Just saying.

      1. “I have not passed judgement on the shooter’s guilt or innocence because I DON’T KNOW THE WHOLE STORY. For that matter, Kazan, neither do you.” end of quote. Maybe this is why the police in Sanford was so quiet for more than one month on this matter?. They were working feverishly on the case and would have, on their own accord, without media intervention, have a trial brought forward?

  3. Mubarak

Thank you for caring about my candidacy. As a result of redistricting the district numbers have changed, hence “elect” rather than “re-elect” and 107 rather than 104.

    1. Not a problem John. Always there to help. Are you telling us the the areas in North Miami Beach, North Miami etc that were in District 104, is now in District 107?

  4. Yes, Mubarak, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Unincorporated NorthEast Miami-Dade, etc., and other areas that are currently House District 104 will be 107. Most of the district numbers have been changed as a result of redistricting.

    1. I’m confused about the re-districting. Does this now mean that Rep. Julien is now living in the right district that he represents? Does this now mean that Rep. Julien can move back home in district 106 or now formally known as 106 since it’s now district 107?Because as most do know,he said he was shacking up with former North Miami Beach Councilman Robert Taylor in district 104 so that he could represent district 104 instead of district 106, where not only does he live, but also former Rep. Steinberg lives and was representing before he sexted Assistant U.S. Attorney Marlene Fernandez-Karavetsos. I’m confused, but why did the former State Representative have to resign over simply sexting, yet State Representative Julien lied about living with Mr. Robert Taylor, committed voter fraud, real estate tax fraud and just plain fraud of oneself like he did when he lied to the residents of North Miami Beach for saying he was a CPA and a graduate of NYU (was it?) and simply keeps moving up the political ladder? At least one thing is for sure, he can’t become President of the United States because he was born in Haiti. Then again that story can change too. Just my two sense.

  5. If only the MSM would stop using the word “Alleged” and only print the facts. They hear something that may be wrong but then publish it under the “alleged” title when most people will think it is true.

    1. The MSM only prints what they want people to believe. If they say it enough times it becomes gospel.

  6. This is what irresponsible, race baiting journalism leads to; the new Black Panther party is offering a ten-thousand dollar reward for the capture of Zimmerman. This group also wants to mobilize ten thousand black men to capture Zimmerman and say they won’t be satisfied until justice is served. When they lynch Zimmerman will NBC or CBS take responsibility? No, they’ll offer some platitudes about smoldering cultural rage and move on to other stories.

    1. Sneakylu, I couldn’t agree with you more. Louis Farrakhan is now calling for the “law of retaliation.” HOW INSANE IS THAT???

  7. Stephanie – thank you! You hit the nail on the head here. The media has only presented one side of the story, not anthing remotely fair or balanced. Why not report the whole story? Why not report the problems the students caused at Walgreens – that was part of the story… By not reporting it they only prove that they paint the picture they want to show which often times is not in tune with reality.
