The Ugly Face of Racism

A Lauderdale Lakes woman by the name of Karyne S. Pompilus runs an alleged “non-profit” organization by the name of Actions for Better Future, Inc.  For months she has been coming before the North Miami Beach City Council with her hand out, demanding money and assistance for “her Haitian people.”  I wrote about her in my column, Playing Identity Politics, because she made so many false statements and was so outlandish, I just had to point out the utter ridiculousness of her incessant demands.

Pompilus attempted to attack me in the comment section of my blog, which was no problem.  When you write a political column, you get used to the heat.  However, she then made a libelous statement, accusing the board members of the North Miami Beach Little League of stealing donated money with absolutely no evidence to back up her claims.  I posted a comment, advising her that she committed libel and that this was against the law.  She scoffed that she didn’t care about the law, insinuating that as a minority, she is entitled to do as she pleases.

After consulting with a lawyer, and upon his advice, I wrote another column entitled Libel, advising Karyne S. Pompilus that if she cannot back up her defamatory claims, she must retract her false allegations.  Instead of realizing that we have laws in America and that she was treading on thin ice, she kept at it.  Not only did she NOT retract her statement, but she repeated it several times!

And then she called me a RACIST!

But, of course.

Amid her constant race baiting in the comment section of my blog, I finally wrote the following:

Here’s the thing. When I wrote the first blog about Karyne Pompilus, I quoted her verbatim. Every other word out of her mouth was “my community,” “the Haitian community,” “my people,” “Haitian” this and “Haitian” that. She has absolutely no concern for people of any other race or nationality. Yet, when I reiterate her own words…

…she calls me a racist.

She made up lies about the population of North Miami Beach, greatly exaggerating the percentage of “Haitians” as 36%. When I point out the actual statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, which reflects a “Haitian” population here of less than 20%…

…she calls me a racist.

She makes a patently false and defamatory statement about members of the NMB Little League and refuses to retract it. When I told her there are laws against libel…

…she calls me a racist.

When I point out examples of her arrogance…

…she calls me a racist.

When I question her intelligence because she makes zero sense whatsoever…

…she calls me a racist.

You see where I’m going with this? Whenever people like Karyne Pompilus don’t have an adequate response or a rational defense, they pull out the race card.

Instead of admitting she was wrong about her made up “statistics,” or her lack of compassion for anyone who isn’t a “Haitian,” or for falsely accusing upstanding citizen volunteers of the Little League of embezzlement, Ms. Pompilus’ ridiculous response to the truth is to call me a racist.

By insisting that the people of “her community” are the only ones in North Miami Beach worthy of receiving money and/or assistance, she has proven that the only racist around here is herself. As long as she persists in these vile and disturbing attacks on me and others, I will continue to defend the innocent with the truth. Whether she likes it or not.

Racists like Karyne S. Pompilus see everything in terms of “us” versus “them.”  They actually believe they can say anything they want, no matter how libelous or false their comments are, and justify their ignorance by crying “RACIST!”

Racists like Karyne S. Pompilus have no concern for anyone outside their [insert special interest group] “community,” as long as they get all the spoils.

Racists like Karyne S. Pompilus don’t like to be held accountable for their words and actions, and anyone who stops them is automatically accused of racism.

She certainly knows her own tricks best!

Now Karyne S. Pompilus is on a mission to discredit me on her Facebook Page with the following post:

By trying to drag Florida State Representative John Patrick Julien, who just happens to be a Haitian American, into this mess because he has the “audacity” to advertise his campaign on my website, she is attempting to accuse him of being a traitor to her “community” and smear him among her “people.”

In other words, Karyne S. Pompilus believes he needs to “stick to his own kind.”

Hey!  That sounds familiar, doesn’t it?  In the days before Martin Luther King, Jr.’s struggle for civil rights and equality, people of all races were admonished to “stick to their own kind.”

Thanks to the courage of people like Dr. King and others who fought against racism and division, Americans have come a long way toward disavowing racism and embracing unity.

Thanks to racists like Karyne S. Pompilus and her ilk, including the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan and Frederica Wilson, among others, true racism continues to rear its ugly head in America.

Karyne S. Pompilus would like to start a race war in our fair City of North Miami Beach.  It’s not going to happen as long as I continue to fight back.  She has found a formidable foe in me.

  1. I have tried to understand Karyne S. Pompilus from her first post……….I cannot.

She first got my attention when she started with her ludicrous attacks on North Miami Beach residents that do not agree with her philosophies.

Karyne S. Pompilus appears to be a “Racial Opportunist” that is trying to divide our community with lies and accusations that are not true for personal gains

By her own statement Karyne S. Pompilus has only lived in the UNITED STATES for 12 years, and thinks she knows more about our community than the residents.

The only thing I can see is an ANGRY person that did not get monies from our city and is hell bent on going after responsible individuals that just say no to “PANHANDLERS”.

Maybe the residents of NMB can canvas the city council to include city hall in the ordinance against panhandling on the streets.

The racist’s accusations of Karyne S. Pompilus are a very dangerous game for a novice to be playing.

That is why I suspect she is probably being fed bogus information by a “Scumbag Lying Politician” of NMB that is going to be thrown out of office on his ass because he likes playing one group of people against another in our city.

I’ll give everyone a hint of who the scumbag Politian is.

He was going around the white community saying that there were” too many Haitians on the council”, He thought that is what they wanted to hear. I know this because he said it to me.I thought it was very strange to hear this coming from a “HAITIAN COUNCILMAN”.
This scumbag politician’s perception of white people appears to be the same type of game Karyne S. Pompilus is trying to play.

“GIVE ME TAXPAYOR’S MONEY OR I WILL TELL EVERYONE YOU ARE A RACIST”.

I feel Karyne S. Pompilus appears not to be representing her Haitian heritage and Christian faith very well with her constant attacks on our residents because she did not get monies for her cause.

We have enough problems in North Miami Beach that need to be solved without someone that apparently lives in another county falsely accusing our residents of racism.

The residents of NMB have already gone through these types of accusations before by ex-city manager Baker.
He pulled out the race card because he was about to be “FOUND OUT” that he did not know how to handle the city’s budget let alone manage our city.
Baker produced four budgets that had so many holes in them that they were laughable to anyone that truly understands budgeting. By the way, not one of his proposed budgets had any cuts on his ridiculous salary and expenses. He was also trying to increase one of his expense accounts to well over a million dollars without any oversight.
He also was taking millions of dollars from public utilities to pay for his folly and incompetence.

    He almost bankrupted our city

On a side note, Baker has just got the city manager’s position in Opa-Locka.
Opa-Locka was just named by the Miami Herald as the most corrupt city in Florida.

“Birds of a feather stick together?”

I may have to clarify the last question for Karyne S. Pompilus.

The question/statement was asked NOT because Baker was black, but because of the corruption and his incompetence.

NOTHING EVER BECAME OF KELVIN BAKER’S ACCUSATIONS OF RACISUM, BECAUSE IT WAS ALL A LIE.

In fact, I truly believe Baker got the NMB City Manager’s position only because he was black and had city employee’s support as well as Washington Park residents.
Not to mention that maybe the non-black politicians did not want to be accused of racism if they were to pick a more qualified non-black applicant. Something the current black councilmen have no problem with doing in public.
If you do not believe me just check their voting records. They are blatantly racist and not a peep from any one, including you Karyne S. Pompilus.

That was old news, so let’s get back to Karyne S. Pompilus’s accusations about racism……………hold on a minute let’s NOT!

One last note for Karyne S. Pompilus before I go move my bowels, when you write about our city please use the correct name, its North Miami Beach and not North Miami, if you were a resident you would know this.

I guess from your view we all look the same………I’m just saying.

  2. I am 85 now. I spent most of my life fighting racism. My dad told me to do that as a child. I have been arrested for going to the back of the bus during WW2 in the deep south and have had many bad things done to me because I fought for minorities. It makes me sick to see a woman of color being so bad. It is my guess from all I can find out that the money she collects goes to her alone. Dr King would have hated her.

  3. Mr. Julien, here is your opportunity to defend yourself and weigh in with a voice of reason. Pick a side and show us all what you’re made of.

    1. To “What say you, John”,
I truly feel it is not fair to expect John to weigh in on this subject publicly at this time.

I also feel John knows exactly what to do.
Sometimes not making a comment may be the best thing to do for the moment.

If you want John to do something……..maybe you should consider giving him a call and discussing the subject with him.

I also feel it is not fair for someone from Broward county “BAD MOUTHING” our representative because he will NOT jump and take orders from an apparent blackmailing racist just because he is Haitian.

Please do not fall into the same type of racial tactics that Karyne S. Pompilus appears to be using.
      Thank you,

  4. Well said Dr. James B Tracton,
A few years ago I fought for an amendment from the Dade County School Board so that Washington Park’s children could attend the new high school.(A.T.M.)
Not one person appeared downtown in front of the school board on this subject but me.
I had to publicly embarrass the ones responsible for drawing up the school boundary lines that were obviously drawn with racial bias.
A couple of months later Councilman Frantz Pierre was taking credit for my work and was publicly stating that he had met with Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho and the superintendent’s advisor Enid Weismann and that he was the one that got the amendment.
He not only stated this LIE at a council meeting but then went on Haitian radio stating the same lie.
I met with Councilman Frantz Pierre and asked him NOT to continue to lie about this subject.
He coyly stated, “WE GOT THE ADMENDMENT”. I then told him he must have a mouse in his pocket because WE didn’t do anything together and to please stop making false statements.
What actually happened was Councilman Frantz Pierre knowingly or unknowingly helped Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho and Enid Weismann in stopping our children from attending the new high school for another year.
What else would you expected from someone working for the school board?
They did this by NOT informing the residents that their children were now to attend the new high school.
The truth came to light when our children were sent computer generated letters of congratulations for their perfect attendance at ATM when actually they were enrolled and sitting in NMB SENIOR HIGH.
OPPS! Cat out of the bag!
And of course, North Miami Beach Principle Fontana freaked out when he heard what was going on.
Principle Fontana made sure that this injustice was being addressed immediately by calling downtown to make sure he was still getting the funds for our children. Not that anything was wrong, just that he was still getting the “funds”!
Oh well, I’m just sooooo glad that our council is looking out for us, like Councilwoman Smith giving Principle Fontana a proclamation honoring him last month. What a crock of sh*t!

But then again, that is another subject to be addressed at a later date………like election time.

Again, well said Dr. James B Tracton
