Little Reggie went for his exam…

Little Reggie went for his exam and kitty shots to Hollwood Animal Hospital. He was examined by Dr. Carson & the surgeon that Dr. Sessa recommended because she specializes in Pectus Excavatum surgeries -Dr. Bibevski.

Dr. Bibevski re-confirmed that Little Reggie’s case is severe and that without the surgery, he can’t survive as his breathing would be so compromised. She recommended that we go ahead with the surgery, even though the surgery is very risky (due to his little size, and thus, little organs that could be punctured during the procedure.) She said that anything could happen during the surgery and there is no guarantee that he will survive it, however, if we do not go ahead with it -he stands no chance whatsoever! She said if it were her kitten, she would go ahead with the surgery as that is his only option and there is a decent chance that he will make it.

The good news is, if he survives the surgery and the recovery period, he will be a 100% normal cat with no problems at all because his chest will have expanded to accommodate all his organs, allowing him to breathe normally.

Dr. Bibevski is trying to get the company that makes the brace for his procedure to donate it, to offset the cost. Already, this surgery was supposed to cost much more than what we are being quoted -which is between $1,000-$1,600. We are not even being charged doctor’s fees -only hospital fees, so that is a good thing. We arrived at the $2,000 goal because we need to calculate his future x-rays (around $300 each time) as well as aftercare vet fees, plus the $340 we already paid up to this point. This is how we got to the $2,000.

For now, we are going ahead with the surgery, in the hopes that more funding comes in and that the company will donate the brace for Little Reggie. Dr. Bibevski would like to wait two more weeks for him to get a little bigger, but, probably not longer than two weeks.

Please, besides donations, we need your prayers, positive thoughts and good energy directed at Little Reggie because of the severe case of Pectus Excavatum that he has and the risky operation that must be done to save his life. I believe in miracles and Little Reggie is one brave litte guy!

Thank-you to everyone who donated and who helped spread the word about Little Reggie. Thanks to you, Little Reggie will have a chance at life. Please keep spreading the word and praying for Little Reg.
