OMG! Another Contender?

Darwin Awards2]So many idiots, so little time!

Even though I could easily imagine David Letterman having a field day with this story, it’s really not funny.  Fortunately, the baby is going to be okay, but the lunacy that put her life in danger could be chalked up to one of the many unintended consequences of strip clubs.  Just saying.

Channel 10 reported that a 21-year old Fort Myers man left a four month old baby in the car while he spent three hours getting his rocks off watching naked women dance.  It doesn’t get any sicker than that.

Or so I thought, until I read this reader’s comment posted on the article:

Seems that this Sosa clown here, is no stranger in keeping Law Enforcement up there in good ole’ neighborly Ft Myers entertained. Here’s a few articles of him in an incident with the Law, from back in Oct 2011:

FORT MYERS — A three-hour standoff at a Fort Myers home ended peacefully overnight when an 18-year-old man surrendered to police early Friday.

Officers say Andrew Sosa, who was wanted on charges of armed burglary and violation of probation in Cape Coral, refused to cooperate with them as they attempted to serve a warrant at a home in the 3600 block of Metro Parkway.

A SWAT team responded to the home, and after several hours of negotiation, Sosa reportedly gave up without incident.

FORT MYERS, FL –

A four-hour standoff at a Fort Myers home ended peacefully overnight when an 18-year-old man surrendered to police.

Officers say Andrew Sosa of Cape Coral, who was wanted on charges violation of probation, resisting an officer, and damage of property, refused to cooperate with them as they attempted to serve a warrant at a home located at 3616 Pine Oak Circle.

After police spotted Sosa inside, they entered, prompting him to barricade himself in the attic, according to an arrest report.

“We saw some movement inside, however nobody came to the door,” said Lt. Jay Rodriguez, with the Fort Myers Police Department.

A SWAT team responded to the scene, and after more than four hours of negotiation Sosa reportedly gave up without incident.

He was taken to the Lee County Jail for booking.

“He had just kind of gotten off on the wrong path,” said Sosa’s grandfather Joe Turano, who raised Sosa since he was six-years-old.

With both of Sosa’s parents in prison, Turano says the teen had a hard time. Then, in 2006, his cousins were murdered.

“It affected him a lot. I think it changed him emotionally,” Turano said.

His cousins, Alex and Jeffrey Sosa, were the victims of brutal murders carried out by the “Cash Feenz” gang.

The teens were kidnapped, tortured, beaten and shot in Cape Coral. Ten people have been convicted of their murders.

But as for Andrew, Turano says he’s been in and out of trouble since he was 11-years-old. And this time, he says, his grandson needs to take responsibility for his actions.

“He’s a young man – 18-years-old. He’s made his choice. I guess he’ll have to live with it,” Turano said.

Three years later, it appears he’s still making some piss poor choices, Gramps.  I suppose he’ll just have to live with this one, too.

It looks like I may have cast my Darwin Award nomination a little too soon.  Andrew Sosa is most definitely a viable contender.
