Ho hum, another shooting in the ‘hood.

Stop shootingThis is starting to get really old.  While I was attending a “crime watch,” a/k/a PACT (Police And Community Together), meeting on my street, bullets were flying not too far away.

There was apparently yet another shooting in North Miami Beach last night at about 8:00 PM in the vicinity of NE 170th Street and 4th Avenue.

I guess someone didn’t get the message that we’re supposed “to come together in a cooperative spirit of helping each other to achieve a crime free community.”

Nah, screw that crap.  This is North Miami Beach.  Guns “R” Us!

Of course, I didn’t hear about this by watching WSVN Channel 7 (which Crime Prevention Specialist John Philome jokingly dissed during the meeting).

I didn’t get a press release, either.

I did, however, read about it on Leoaffairs.com, which has now apparently become the best source for news about violent crimes.  (Thanks, guys!)

And, yes, I confirmed this incident with not one, but two, of my peeps-in-the-know before going to press.

So spin that, NMB.  Take your best shot!

No, wait!

On second thought, don’t do that.  Around here someone might take that way too literally!

Shooting SpreeOne of my sources told me that “a group of friends got into an argument that turned south.”

With ammo.

Nothing says “You’re my BFF” like “Ima shoot yo ass, mofo!”

Seriously, what’s a few bullet holes among friends anyway?

Yep! Just another day in paradise!

  1. Imagine how much more money we could save by laying off 17 MORE police officers?

Who cares that crime soars causing home values to fall, tax revenues to decline and businesses to sit vacant? We’d rather lose a dollar tomorrow if it means saving a nickel today. That is what this mayor calls “fiscal responsibility”.

Then again, maybe that explains why our mayor’s home is in foreclosure and he constantly “forgets” to pay his property taxes. (Snicker)

  2. This is Uleta, yet one of the loudest opposers to any new development comes from this neighborhood.

  3. And many elected officials have given him credence over the professional opinion of employees, consultants and saner residents. Maybe he can tell us all how to fight crime too.
