  1. Recent political events are just further evidence that nature abhors a vacuum. Tell me again, how many people bothered to attend Karin’s rally?

  2. Exactly.

Which helps explain how our political mastermind is someone whose house is in foreclosure, repeatedly forgets to pay his real estate taxes and whose business is being sued.

He’s incompetent at best, unethical at worst…and still, the best we have to offer.

  3. Are you sure you aren’t talking about North Miami? Apathy reigns supreme! Just substitute She’s for He’s. Misery loves company! Thanks for this Stephanie.

    1. Talk about apathy or other forms of not good stuff: And tonight on the council agenda — low and behold — they have come to a “settlement” with Oleta Partners (Biscayne Landing) to keep that contaminated soil there. I bet Scott is the only one that will be “not-forgetting” this was discussed and voted on already! It is all upsetting really but so what else is new?!. And all the experts/citizens that came out before to meetings to give testimony/opinion of why the soil needed to go— of course they wait to another week/meeting when these people cant come back to speak up against the soil.
Well maybe some people will show up tonight and say get that contaminated soil out there-they were supposed to bring clean soil. Make a cheer out of it! πŸ™‚ Sending positive hope from the internet.

      1. With all the stuff going on in NMB, I haven’t had time to keep up with what’s going on over there. I didn’t even realize that item is coming up again. Thanks for the reminder!

        1. Its really quite depressing. You can check the Agenda packet and read all the legalese… You think they could have gotten more than 1 mill out of them considering it would have cost them many times more of that to get the soik out! (who negotiated THAT deal and what is that money used for/how did they come up with the value?). Of course people point fingers whose fault it was – was it DERM, did they drop ball, was it Oleta no oversight, blah blah…but as Galvin says (and Wolland and others) that stuff was never supposed to be there at all. And now they have come up with all these reasons to keep it (of course!! ). No harm no foul – they think. A bunch of people put a lot of time into speaking up about it. For any of us who have been around a long time watching that dump in various forms, this is not the end. It is just a shame of all the things — they bring contaminated soil to begin with! Thanks Stephanie. Always more to the story in NM too…. but aren’t parts of NMB also next to that place? Highland Village? I say your folks should be there and be concerned… but wait, they have other issues on their plate like needing to hire a new city attorney πŸ™‚ Peace out πŸ™‚

          1. I will definitely check this all out, but it won’t be until much later or tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I’ll be able to write about it, although you pretty much said it all. Yes, about Highland Village, as well. I know I live in NMB, but I like to give equal time to North Miami. That was my home for several years before I moved here, and I still feel very much connected. Both cities are important to cover.
