Biscayne Park: The Plot Thickens

the plot thickensThe odd little story about the “sudden disappearance” of three Biscayne Park cops just keeps getting stranger.

By sheer coincidence, on Saturday, April 5, 2014, the same day the Miami Herald published an article about the silence at Village Hall surrounding the suspension of the Police Chief and two high ranking officers, Miami Beach Police Sgt. Colin Pfrogner sent out the following email:

Effective immediately, discontinue utilizing Biscayne Park Police Officers to cover off duty details until further advised.

How weird is that?

I couldn’t help but wonder WTF was going on, if this directive had anything to do with the missing officers, and why off duty jobs in Miami Beach were now off limits to the Village of Biscayne Park Police Department.

First of all, the Bermuda Triangle definitely has nothing to do with it.

Secondly, here’s what I’ve been able to find out so far.  Miami Beach PD, as well as others in the County, often hire officers from other departments for off duty jobs.  In addition to the eleven on the payroll, the Biscayne Park Police Department also has a number of reserve officers (sources estimated there are anywhere from 18 to 20), who are not paid a salary by the Village, but who are eligible to work off duty jobs since they are considered employees of the PD.  Every time a Biscayne Park officer takes an off duty job, he or she is supposed to give the BP Police Department the sum of $10.00, which the department uses as it sees fit.

I’m told that the recent suspensions may have something to do with off duty money that’s unaccounted for.  Speculation is high that this is the case.

I’m guessing there’s some serious shit going on there or the Chief of Police wouldn’t have resigned so suddenly.

But, even more importantly, there just may be a NORTH MIAMI BEACH CONNECTION!

This morning I saw a post on LeoAffairs stating:

LeoAffairs1To which I responded:

LeoAffairs2

I then sent a public records request to the North Miami Beach City Clerk, who responded immediately with “I am sending the request to HR.  I will contact you as soon as I receive information.”  That was at 8:08 this morning.

HR has not responded.

However, one of my peeps posted a response on LeoAffairs earlier this evening:

LeoAffairs3I’m hoping this is just a nasty rumor, but I have my doubts about that.  I know the North Miami Beach Police Department is in dire need of warm bodies, but this is ridiculous!  The last thing we need is another department’s rejects.

Even if they’re not from Opa-locka.
