That’s MISTER Random Pixels to you!

mr-awesomeCBS Miami’s MaryAnn Martinez reported a story in an article, Children Shocked While In Hialeah Pool, posted late last night.  At minute 00:54 of the video she announced, “All three children were electrocuted.”

Fortunately, despite the “jolting experience,” all three kids are still alive.

Unfortunately, Ms. Martinez got smacked by Random Pixels on Twitter for misusing the word “electrocuted:”

RP Tweet 1Going into full spin control mode, Martinez stupidly tweeted back:

Martinez tweetMaybe she should have quit while she was ahead, because RP tweeted back:

RP Tweet 2Also included in the conversation, CBS Miami News Director Liz Roldan engaged Random Pixels in the following exchange:

RP-Roldan TweetsYou just know I had to add my two cents to the conversation:

Roldan-SK Tweets

She got that right!

MaryAnn Martinez was strangely silent after she was chastised.

I’m guessing she won’t be messing with MISTER Random Pixels any time soon.

  1. Odd. The phrase “seriously injured” also comes up when the word is searched.Appears to differ based on where you look.

    1. Hey, I don’t make the news. I just report it. I’ll let RP himself respond if he’s so inclined.

  2. I looked up electrocution on Merriam-Webster. Not sure what she means by “many dictionaries”. When the crap is up to your eyes, don’t open your mouth.

    1. Oxford Dictionary:
      Definition of electrocute in English:
      electrocute
      Syllabification: e·lec·tro·cute
      Pronunciation: /iˈlektrəˌkyo͞ot /
      VERB
1Injure or kill someone by electric shock:

    [WITH OBJECT]
1Injure or kill someone by electric shock:
a man was electrocuted when he switched on the Christmas tree lights

  4. Medline Medical Encyclopedia: DO NOT
Stay at least 20 feet away from a person who is being electrocuted by high-voltage electrical current (such as power lines) until the power is turned off.

Do NOT touch the person with your bare hands if the body is still touching the source of electricity
Do NOT apply ice, butter, ointments, medications, fluffy cotton dressings, or adhesive bandages to a burn
Do NOT remove dead skin or break blisters if the person has been burned
After the power is shut off, do NOT move the person unless there is a risk of fire or explosion

Not sure why anyone would be doing any of the above to a dead body.

    What is Electrocution?

Electrocution, which can lead to death, is caused by any type of electric shock due to exposure to high voltage electricity. Small currents (70 mA – 700 mA) may cause fibrillation in the heart, which can be reversed with a defibrillator. Large currents (> 1 A) may cause permanent damage via burns, and cellular damage.

Factors that determine the extent and severity of an electrocution injury include:
    Amount of voltage encountered
    Duration of contact with current
Pathway of electricity through the body
    Type of circuit
    Type of current

    1. That’s because IslaFire’s mouth is too full of crap to speak and Mr. RP is off in the twittersphere looking for someone else to needlessly criticize.
