Nadege is back!

Once upon a time, Miami Herald reporter Nadege Green “belonged” to North Miami Beach.  She was a constant presence at City Council meetings and covered all the news worth reporting.  Citizen activists and elected officials alike were devastated when she was assigned to North Miami.

It’s bad enough that our own Target store advertises itself as the “North Miami Target” on the corporate website:

Target

Even worse, North Miami not only lays claim to the part of Biscayne Boulevard that actually does belong to us, but our police officers have to handle traffic accidents on the entire stretch of that road, including North Miami’s territory.

Freeing up their cops so they have more time to shop at our Target, I suppose.

But did that city have to steal our reporter, too?

We really are the Rodney Dangerfield of northeast Miami-Dade County!  Absolutely no respect.

Some of us not so secretly gloated, however, when Nadege was transferred out of North Miami to cover Miami Beach.

HAH!  Now you know how we felt!

Maybe the Miami Herald is finally appreciating the beautiful and talented Nadege Green and her crackerjack reporting skills.  Ms. Green is now reporting for WLRN in addition to covering the entire county for the Herald.*  It’s about freaking time, right?

(*CORRECTION:  I have been advised that Ms. Green is not working for the Herald, but because WLRN and the Herald are news partners, they work collaboratively.  Okay, whatever.)

WLRN just posted Former North Miami Mayor Awaiting Trial For Fraud Endorses Candidate.  As you’ve probably heard by now, Lucie Tondreau has been all over Haitian radio telling listeners to vote for Jean Marcellus for Mayor.  “She says he will hold her seat for her until she returns,” according to the article.

Lucie is not going down without a fight!

While candidate Smith Joseph claims that Lucie is accusing him of “conspiring with the FBI” to have her arrested, I’ve also heard that she was royally pissed when he didn’t endorse her during the runoff election last year.  He didn’t endorse her opponent, Kevin Burns, either, but I guess she took it personally.  Joseph rightfully stayed out of the fray.

If that’s the case, Lucie just may be cutting her own nose off to spite her face.  It’s commonly believed that Marcellus has no chance of winning the election, and that his candidacy will only serve to split the all important Haitian voting bloc, practically ensuring Burns a victory in this upcoming Special Election.

If Lucie’s intention is for Marcellus to keep the mayoral seat warm for her, she’s doing it wrong.

You're doing it wrong.

In any event, Nadege Green is on the case, covering the hotly contested North Miami Special Election.

Even more exciting, Nadege has the inside track on that secret society known as “Haitian radio.”

Yes, folks, we are in for a treat!

Nadege is back!

And the long, hot summer continues.

  1. I always thought the timing was interesting that she was away during the time smelly stuff hitting the fan in NoMi with Police Chief, etc etc…. maybe everyone waits for her to be gone! Yes glad she is back on the beat, if even too large a beat – if her bosses are listening, give her a raise!
