A couple of weeks ago, there was a spate of antisemitic graffiti in Rome that included swastikas and this one that translates to “dirty Jews”

First we had a group of “palestinians” protest on the streets of Miami while telling a Jewish reporter that he should leave a public street.  (July 20, 2014)

Then an Orthodox synagogue in the vicinity of North Miami Beach was defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti.  (July 27, 2014)

Then an Orthodox Rabbi was murdered at gunpoint on the 800 block of NE 174th Street, while he was walking to a synagogue for morning services.  (August 9, 2014)

Last night, just before midnight, I received a text that a swastika was carved into a BMW on the 600 block of NE 179th Terrace.  Miami-Dade Police were called to the scene.

In case no one else is seeing a pattern here, it’s become quite obvious to anyone who isn’t completely ignorant that Jews are under attack.

Anti-Semitism is alive and well in Europe, and has been for quite some time.

American Jews have chosen to ignore it and pretend that we are so enlightened on this side of the pond that it will never happen here.

Well, guess what?

It is happening here.

And unless we call it what it is, and refuse to back down, it will continue to happen here.

It happened in Germany.

It’s happening in Rome.

As reported in Atlas Shrugs on August 10, 2014:

“Saturday morning, areas of Rome were plastered with posters saying “Do not buy from Jews!” with a list of 50 Jewish-owned stores to be boycotted.  Using the Gaza war as their excuse for hate, a group called “Vita Est Militia” signed the posters.”

After the Holocaust, Jews cried, “NEVER AGAIN!”

Well, “never again” means absolutely nothing if we allow it to HAPPEN AGAIN!

Are American Jews going to continue to be silent and pretend it isn’t?

Or are we going to speak up and refuse to accept the blatant Anti-Semitism disguised as “criticism of Israel?”

I REFUSE TO BE SILENT!

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

  1. Where is the JDL?
    Open the membership.
    Broaden your base.
Let those help that desire to do so.
    Schlinder lives.

  2. I may have strong opinions about the humanitarian situation faced by innocent Gazans,
However would quickly and readily stand to defend against any instance of prejudice against Jews.
If you fear growing antisemitism in NMB then it is important the jewish community start reaching out to establish explicit bonds of peace and communion with other members of the community.
There’s nothing wrong with hanging out in enclaves west of snake creek, however combating prejudice in a community requires the whole community.
I may not be a resident of NMB but as someone who lives nearby and spends a significant anount of time with Jews in nmb I would very happily and proudly stand with my fellow humans against all forms of hate.
If anyone finds out about community action a or meetings regarding this issue please pass word along to me and I will try let as many others know about it as I can.

  3. I am glad to see that you wrote about the anti-semitism growing all over the world. I went to war against nazis and will fight them again.

  4. It is astonishing that this has not made the national news, unless I missed something. There is video clip on CNN and that’s about it. Would the outrage be louder if this had been a priest and a church had been defaced? Where are the authorities and where is the FBI? These crimes are obviously HATE CRIMES!

  5. No crime or disturbance by Jews is heard or read in the newspaper. Jews are hard working people and a pleasure to associate with. If there is a problem in Gaza they have a right to defend themselves. I am not of the Jewish faith but I do admire them for their family values and hard work.
