Gary Eugene started out his career in law enforcement as a patrol officer for the City of Miami in 1985 and by 2011, he worked his way up the ranks to Commander.  He retired as a Major in 2012.

Mr. Eugene joined the North Miami Police Department in 2013 and was sworn in as Chief Executive Assistant on October 16, 2014.

Gary Eugene Swearing In 10-16-14This Sunday, December 28, 2014, Mr. Eugene will be promoted to Assistant Chief of the North Miami Police Department.

Gary Eugene has an impressive resume, including training in Civil Engineering, a certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing, an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  In addition, he is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky and the Senior Management Institute for Police Executives at Harvard’s Kennedy School.

By the time he retired from the City of Miami, Mr. Eugene had managed the Department’s 9-1-1 system, oversaw the Department’s entire training program, and was assigned to the Special Investigations Section.  He received training by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States Secret Service and the Department of State.

Mr. Eugene also had the distinction of becoming the first Haitian born Lieutenant in the City of Miami’s Police Department, and also received citations from the Coast Guard for his service in Search & Rescue Operations.

As Assistant Chief, Gary Eugene will bring a meritorious twenty nine years of experience in law enforcement to the table, which will add a new level of prestige to the North Miami Police Department’s already enviable reputation.

Congratulations to Gary Eugene for his highly anticipated and much deserved promotion.

    This promotion is just a confirmation of the fact that Gary Eugene always excelled in what he did, all the sacrifices that he have made on the job paid off today. Above all, a man with great heart and character. Integrity, commitment and confidence.
