  1. I feel for this man, a good man, a man that probably shouldn’t have ever been given the position in the first place. He was doing just great as the Public Services Director. What behooved this current council from thinking he was ready to put up with all the skeletons in the closet of North Miami is beyond me, much of the staff and many residents. STOP TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT NORTH MIAMI CITY OFFICIALS. We have a lot going on in this city and it’s time to take this position very seriously. Stop worrying about the ethnicity of the candidate and certainly don’t look for someone within. Find a leader, find a manager, just take the time and make a difference already. You all are exhausting all of us!

  2. Mr. Ghany is very nice and I wish him well but he should not be paid out 20 weeks of severance pay or have his sick and vacation time paid out weekly.
Paying these benefits weekly instead of in a lump sum effectively extend his credited service time. What does that mean? That means that for the purpose of pension benefits he is credited for having worked more time than he actually did.

This translates to more money paid out to him out of the pension. A pension plan needs employee contributions in order to remain solvent. More money going out than what comes in affects the plans volatility. As an example, if Mr. Ghany worked 19.5 years for the city and he gets paid for an extra six months that he does not work he reaps the benefits of a twenty year employee.
The City should not make administrative decisions allowing this without input from the board. It’s ludicrous that the City would make a unilateral decision that has a financial impact on the pension.

Mr. Ghany’ requests are made with the full knowledge that he will have a financial gain from the concessions.
Dr. Claude is currently on leave collecting a check for staying at home. Who pays the price for the City’s decision to allow this? The membership and TAXPAYERS
Just SAY NO and put an end to these golden parachutes. North Miami can’t afford more poor decision making in the part of our council.
