NORTH MIAMI BREAKING NEWS: CHIEF LENNY RESIGNS! (UPDATED)

Happy MondayHELLA GOOD NEWS:  CHIEF LENNY’S OUTTA HERE!

Yeah, I know.

That was so bitchy of me.

But, I really just couldn’t help myself.

Besides, Mondays don’t get any better than this!

I first started hearing “rumors” early this morning.  I’ve been dying to blog it, but I needed to confirm the news.

The minute Councilman Scott Galvin posted it on Facebook, that was all the confirmation I needed.

Hella good newsChief Lenny is G-O-N-E!

So, yeah.  We’re good.

In fact, we’re GREAT!

Department morale just improved by 1000%!

I can’t even count the number of North Miami police officers who have called and texted me to express their elation and relief that the nightmare is finally over.

One cop even texted me:

I have no words.

I’m sure there will be lots more to this story, so stay tuned.

  1. This is the best news Monday’s can bring ! I think I’ll have a party to celebrate. Maybe the dept will come back together with REAL leadership !

  2. Finally! It’s time for Gary Eugene to take over this department. We don’t need a Chief of Police who has baggage from years in North Miami. What we do need is an individual who is respected, experienced and not necessarily from years in North Miami, leadership qualities, and an impeccable record. We need a Chief of Police that those in the department can be proud of.

  3. Hope the next chief will clean up the friends and family command staff , Brea, Ann-Marie , Belcher all the ones that were given that spot on a silver plater and that are not even qualified for the position !

  4. Now we need to hope the manager doesn’t promote worthless Juriga the alleged racist and alleged anti Semite. Don’t forget to say “alleged” whenever you talk about him because he may whine, file a complaint and get another big payout like he did just for overhearing Ghany call him a “redneck” in a PRIVATE CONVERSATION with his wife. We all know Juriga has no problem filing a complaint if he sees a payout coming out of it. Just don’t complain to him if you’re a victim of racism, sexual harassment or anything. He doesn’t want to hear it!

    1. If Larry Juriga had any aspirations to be chief, maybe he should have thought twice before filing an EEOC complaint, or at least agreeing to accept a settlement in excess of $30,000.00 of taxpayer money – especially for something so petty. I’m still shaking my head that he thought being referred to as a redneck was a bad thing.

      Seriously.

      Just ask Alan Jackson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsw8q4fNfBw

  5. You’ll now see Juriga distance himself from Burgess in every way possible. But don’t forget Juriga stood shoulder to shoulder with Burgess while he made all the incompetent decisions that have led him to this moment. Eugene is the chief this department has been patiently waiting for. Burgess, Juriga and Brea have brought shame to this department and even caused an accreditation embarrassment. We need change. Thank you Spring!

  6. I am a retired MDPD Lieutenant who worked with Lenny Burgess at the Miami-Dade Police Department for many years. I’ll be as succinct as possible. This “resignation in lieu of termination” has been a long time coming for my good old buddy Lenny. To his City Manager: You may not know it yet, but this may be the best decision you’ve made thus far. Your city will thank you.

  7. My sixteen year old can write a letter of resignation better than this chief. He’s clearly illiterate and his attempts to insert his purported “accomplishments” in this letter like a mini resume are embarrassingly transparent. Pathetic.

  8. Never met the man but I saw him around. Someone once said he looks and sounds like a character right out of the Simpsons. They were right but what makes it worse is that Homer Simpson was running the police department and we wondered why Keystone was crime ridden.

  9. The picture of the lions walking in the snow: it’s a classic. When Lenny became the chief, he printed a picture off the internet of a large lion walking in the snow. The lion has other lions and lionesses walking behind it. Apparently Lenny was the large lion leading the others. The words “Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you” are inserted into the lion picture. This picture was xeroxed a million times and passed around, posted, and framed on walls at the station. We all know who the other lions, who he surrounded himself with, are. The lions and lionesses on the same mission as his are Juriga, Maneresa, Cardona, and Brea. Although some would argue that Cardona and Brea wouid be better depicted in the picture, not as lionesses but as…well you know.

  10. We can thank that clique for the way our police department has rock bottom. If you thought we had problems before take a good look at what’s happened around here since Burgess and Juriga, Cardona, Brea and Manresa have been rowing this boat. We’re like the Titanic.

  11. Now your ex-Lenny is at Miramar pd as the assistant Cheif to an inexperienced figurehead Cheif. Thank the good lord I’m retired. I feel terrible for the quality hard working officers there that will soon be inundated with his philosophies. Any suggestions you can give?

    1. Sure thing. Watch this blog. Chief Lenny just put Miramar in my cross hairs. Figuratively speaking, of course. 😉
