BREAKING: Gary Eugene appointed as North Miami’s Chief of Police

Gary EugeneThe City Manager of North Miami, Larry M. Spring, appointed Interim Chief Gary Eugene as the permanent Chief of Police, effective today.

In a press release, Mr. Spring stated:

While the selection process was completed internally, and all applicants had overall credentials, Chief Eugene’s experience, knowledge, and perspective on community policing stood out the most. I have full confidence that Chief Eugene will continue to move the department forward and I am pleased to be working alongside a former colleague from the City of Miami.”

In addition to an impressive resume, which includes an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Miami Dade College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Barry University, and a dual Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and Social Work from Florida International University, Chief Eugene also brings more than thirty years’ experience in law enforcement to the table.

North Miami’s newest Police Chief is also a graduate of the prestigious Southern Police Institute (S.P.I.) in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Senior Management Institute of Police (S.M.I.P.) from Harvard University.

Prior to his career in law enforcement, Gary Eugene also earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical Institute of Engineering in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing from Lindsey Hopkins Technical School in Miami, Florida.

Chief Eugene began his career in law enforcement as a Patrol Officer in the City of Miami in 1985, and retired from that department as a Police Major on June 29, 2012.  He then was hired by the North Miami Police Department in 2013 as a staff coordinator, was promoted to Assistant Chief in December of 2014, and then to Interim Chief of Police last month in the wake of the abrupt resignation of his predecessor, Leonard Burgess.

City Manager Larry Spring’s decision to appoint Gary Eugene as the permanent Chief of Police signals a new era of high standards and professionalism for the North Miami Police Department.  North Miami residents will finally receive the police protection that they deserve.

Congratulations, Police Chief Gary Eugene!

  1. Yippee!! Congratulation to the new North Miami Chief of Police Gary Eugene. We can all be confident that once again, after a long period of time, there is a quality individual in that office.

  2. Im glad Bage (Juriga’s protege’) wasn’t selected. That would’ve been a disaster. Juriga running the deprtment again through Bage just like he did through Burgess. Disaster! Congrats Eugene!

  3. Gary Euegene might be the best thing to happen to this department in a long time. I can picture all these other clowns getting their resumes ready to retire and go elsewhere. I hear Opalocka is hiring.

  4. Congratulations to both, the City Manager Mr. Larry Spring’s for making the correct decision, and to Chief Gary Eugene for a long awaited and well deserved promotion… Congratulation Gary on your new position as the City of North Miami Chief of Police. I wish you all the best!

  5. Congratulations to Chief Eugene on his appointment. I’m so glad to see that the new city manager made the decision to break from the status quo and do something to raise the level of professionalism at the police department. It’s been too many years of chiefs driven by either their cliques or self promotion. You know you have a problem when it becomes obvious to the residents.

  6. And there’s a light!
Everybody is just happy Juriga wasn’t promoted. That guy is bad news.

  7. Great news that Gary Eugene was made Chief. The only problem is that the cancerous seeds of evil planted here by Juriga and the past administrations are still around. Chief Eugene will need to become the terminator, and clean house in order to be successful. We all here wish him the best and hope he is swift in eliminating the cancer that surrounds him.

    1. This is true, Juriga has his little group of followers that are a cancer. Juriga has lost a lot of his illuminati buddies in the last few years so he had to build up a new group of followers to surround him. His biggest ass kissers are Scott Croye, Annmarie Cardona, Franzia Burden, and Walter Sidd. Croye and Sidd would kill their own mother to get promoted. Annmarie wants that Assistant Chief position so bad she’s got her head so high up Juriga’s ass she can’t see hasn’t seen daylight in five years.
Juriga is a cut throat hypocrite. He needs to find a job somewhere else so he doesn’t make the department any worse than he already has.

      1. Listen genius, if you truly want to remain anonymous you should probably not use words like “illuminati”since these are words that only people on the inside use. You should probably not be in this business since being a coward probably disqualifies you. You have something to say about somebody, say it to their face. Remember, it’s a civil service job, you won’t get fired.

        1. That was some crack detective work there, Sherlock. News flash: a good many of my readers happen to be NMPD officers “on the inside.” I hate to break it to you, but the so-called “Illuminati” is not exactly a state secret. You’re obviously either one of them or an “outsider” desperate to get inducted. Good luck with that.

Either way, someone who posts anonymously is hardly in the position to call someone else a coward for doing the exact same thing. Duh!

Damn! I hope you’re not a cop because your comment was just scary stupid. Just saying.

          1. Stephanie oh Stephanie, I guess your right about that, not gonna argue. Kind of like it though. I left north Miami in my rear view many years ago after a short 25 year career and I’ve seen your kind before. What happened, did something happen that you didn’t agree with? Anyway, just wanted to make sure that Joe and Jane officer that read your blog know that not everything you write is true. But as everything in this business, your fifteen minutes will be over soon. Nothing is going to change Stephanie, things have been this way since the beginning of time and they will continue to be that way long after we are long gone. It is the perils of being in a small department, everyone knows everyone else and knows everyone else’s business. And for those men and women out there working the streets or
Narcotics or investigations, continue to do your job and watch out for each other, no matter what is written about your leadership. You are the backbone of this department and only you are in charge of your destiny. Later all……

          2. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been waiting for my fifteen minutes to be up since August of 2010, but for some reason, the clock has yet to run out. Go figure.

Everything that I post is well documented with links to each and every source. While you may not agree with what I write, you should know that opinions are neither right nor wrong, they are simply opinions. You’re entitled to yours, as well.

Regular readers of my blog know that I am 100% in support of law enforcement and I have a deep appreciation for the men and women who risk their lives each and every day to protect all of us – even the people who hate them. I admit, I could never do that. Good thing I’m just a blogger and not a cop!

What I cannot abide, and will continue to rail against, is fraud, corruption, duplicity and incompetence from public officials, whether they were elected, appointed or hired. Citizens and residents deserve honest and open government, trustworthy and law abiding public servants, and responsible stewardship of their hard earned tax dollars. Unfortunately, there are far too many corruptocrats at every level of government, including, and unfortunately, police departments. I will NOT stop doing everything I can to rout out corruption and continue informing the public at every step of the way.

When my fifteen minutes are finally up, I’ll probably go back to baking cookies. Or something. Either way, it’s all good.

  8. We the people (officers) can only say —

FREE AT LAST…..FREE AT LAST……FREE AT LAST

let the illuminati take their corruption, nepotism, and down right thieven selves elsewhere to destroy some other department

  9. CONGRATS TO CHIEF EUGENE !!!
But our appreciation to Larry Jauriga & Robert Bage
Who have always been professional and personable in our entirety of knowing them.
