Hey, Chief Lenny. Hate to say “I told you so,” but … Okay, not really.

I told you so2Well this is interesting.

I opined in a blog post yesterday that Monday’s police involved shooting in North Miami might have something to do with the fact that the NMPD recently failed its accreditation assessment while former Chief of Police Leonard Burgess was still at the helm.

As it turns out, I wasn’t the only person who picked up on that “coincidence.”

Miami New Times reporter Tim Elfrink posted an article today, Two Months Before Charles Kinsey Shooting, Chief Resigned and North Miami Police Failed State Test,  also connected those same dots.

The opening paragraph of the article reads:

Hundreds of thousands of viewers have now watched a video of Charles Kinsey on his back with his arms in the air and asked, “How could police have shot this man?” A recent 14-page report from state inspectors might offer one hint.

The New Times article discussed the results the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation’s Assessment Report of the North Miami Police Department, which I wrote about in even greater detail in my blog post on June 28, 2016, Chief Lenny, Born to Lose!

The reporter also picked up on the fact that Chief Lenny’s abrupt resignation shortly after the department’s failed accreditation assessment “indicates the intense state of disarray at the department.”

No kidding!

For nearly two years, I wrote blog after blog about the complete incompetence of the former NMPD Chief of Police, and even warned that there would be repercussions long after his departure.

It now certainly appears that the department’s failure to pass the assessment, which included deficiencies in weapons training, may have contributed to Monday’s disastrous shooting of an unarmed man.  The fact that a member of the SWAT team allegedly  missed his intended target just might be a clue how well that weapons training was going.

Just saying.

As the New Times pointed out, the three day accreditation was going so poorly that the Commission’s assessment team “made a recommendation to the Executive Staff to consider withdrawing from the process until all standards could be brought into compliance.”

Tim Elfrink even spoke with the Commission’s executive director, Lori Mizell, who admitted that “withdrawing from the test is not a common move for a department.”  She also confirmed him that the North Miami Police Department is no longer accredited.

I received several phone calls today advising me that Channel 7 also reported on North Miami Police Department’s loss of its accreditation in conjunction with its non-stop coverage of Monday’s shooting.

Interesting conclusion, no?

Although Lenny’s epic failures as the Chief of the North Miami Police Department are now yesterday’s headlines, his tainted legacy will live on in infamy.

  1. They need to take a close look at anyone appointed by Burgess. These “bad hire” legacies live on. If they don’t clean house they will be dealing with the trash left behind for years.

  2. There are still some North Miami Police Officers who were buddy buddy with Burgess and just as responsible for the mess the city is in. Good Bye to them and don’t get hit by the door when you leave. And if they choose not to go willingly, fire them!

  3. There’s definitely a list of incompetent people who need firing.
What this place needs is an enema. Start at the top:
    Larry Juriga
    Franzia Brea
    Annmarie Watler
    Scott Croye
    Walter Sidd
    Buisereth
Get rid of all those Lenny cronies and you’ll have a clean slate.

  4. Garbage man must be giving us the short list because he left off a lot of others like Rivera, Reyes, and a whole bunch of officer’s that were hired by Chief Lenny, L Juriga, and A Rivera because they were buddies, or as a favor for some politician, their parents, or another Police Administrator in another department. As I have said in the past this department needs a deep cleaning and at least 20 need to be fired, especially those old commanders and new sergeant’s that were promoted all within the last 5 years. For us taxpayers we can only pray that Chief Eugene and Asst Chief Cuevas can get it done because the entire city knows that Juriga and his head illuminati hyena Rivera will do everything in their power to undermine this administration. God Bless the new administration, this city and this country.
