Oops, she did it again?

OOPS I DID IT AGAIN

Last week in OMIGOD! She did NOT say that, did she?, I told you about a racist rant posted on Facebook by a young woman claiming to be the daughter of Jean D. Berrouet and the cousin of Yvenoline Dargenson, who are both running for seats on the North Miami Beach City Council.  As shocking as that was, it appears there is more of the same going on around town.

A couple days ago I received a call from a resident in North Miami Beach who was very distressed about a campaign mailer that was hand delivered and placed into his mailbox. This resident believes he was targeted to receive the mailer because he happens to be black. He couldn’t be more disgusted by the racist comment that was printed.

Aside from the fact that it’s a Federal CRIME to put anything but U.S. Mail into a mailbox, what was hand-written on this mailer is the bigger scandal. Allegedly, of course.

At my request, the resident scanned the mailer and sent it to me immediately. Here it is:

BERROUET racist mailer

The disturbing message was then signed by someone calling herself Sarah Berrouet.  A smiley face symbol was printed under the signature.  As if to say, I’m happy to be a racist.

As you might imagine, I was shocked and appalled.

Okay, not that shocked and appalled since I had already seen a similar message posted on Facebook by someone using the moniker Sarabi Nieves, also claiming to be candidate Jean D. Berrouet’s daughter and Yvenoline Dargenson’s cousin.

Vote for only black people

I’ve since been told that “young people” like to use pseudonyms on Facebook, and that Berrouet’s daughter Sarah was probably using “Sarabi Nieves” as hers.  Silly me for not knowing that since I thought the primary purpose for using Facebook was so that people can find you.  How can you be found if you hide behind an alias?  What am I missing.  And then I thought I’m just too old for this shit anyway.

It’s worthy to note that on Facebook, “Sarabi Nieves” has posted Jean D. Berrouet’s campaign literature on her page, and that she is Facebook friends with Dorise Berrouet (Jean’s wife), Jean Berrouet, Michael Etienne, and of course, Yvenoline Dargenson.  So, I’m guessing that the probability of “Sarabi Nieves” and Sarah Berrouet being one and the same person are pretty darned high.

Getting back to the topic, whether you use your real name or an alias, racism is still racism.

When I showed them this mailer, a few conspiracy theorists in NMB told me that it might have been planted in the man’s mailbox in an attempt to make him THINK that Berrouet was a racist and then VOTE AGAINST him.

So, I put on my tinfoil hat and tried to imagine who would benefit most by executing such a plan.  There are five candidates running in Group 2, vying for the open seat.  Aside from Berrouet himself, the other challengers are Tony DeFillipo, Hillel Hellinger, Margie Love and Jaime Miller.  Let’s look at the probabilities that any of these individuals would stoop so low.

Gee, I’m sorry, but I seriously doubt any of these contenders are even remotely capable of playing such a dirty rotten trick.  Heck, I don’t think any of them are even capable of making one of those smiley face things.  Well, except for maybe Margie, but she is such a sweetheart, she’d be absolutely mortified at the mere thought of doing something so horrific, much less carry it out.

I’ve known Tony, Hillel and Margie for several years, and I believe each one of them is of the highest moral character.  None of these people would stoop to the level of such trickery.  I only just met Jaime Miller recently, but from what I have heard about him, I seriously doubt he’d sneak around the city and put racist mailers into mailboxes in order to win an election.  Jaime seems like an honest, straightforward individual, who probably wouldn’t even entertain such an idea.

So, no, I do not believe this is a hoax or a conspiracy.  I may not be able to prove it beyond all reasonable doubt in a court of law, but I am firmly convinced this mailer was handed out by Sarah Berrouet.  This is almost the exact same sentiment she posted on Facebook.  Even though she’s only 22, she’s old enough to know better.  Unless she was raised by racists or she’s been living under a rock, she HAD to know this was a racist comment.  If this is her doing, as I suspect it is, then she is nothing but a racist.  Pure and simple.  I find this attitude utterly despicable.

The fact that this woman is the DAUGHTER of Jean D. Berrouet, A MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SCHOOL EMPLOYEE, and the COUSIN of Faux Candidate Yvenoline Dargenson, A SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION EMPLOYEE, SPEAKS VOLUMES!

Here’s the thing.  If I were to say something like “Vote for the only white people running so we don’t have an all black council,” you’d stop reading this blog and probably ask the authorities to charge me with a hate crime.

If Sarah Berrouet is behind this mailer, she shouldn’t be given a pass, either.

Please show Sarah and her relatives, JEAN D. BERROUET and YVENOLINE DARGENSON, that WE DON’T WANT RACISM at City Hall!

ON May 7, 2013.  PLEASE VOTE RESPONSIBLY!

  1. Each one of those 5 clowns on the mailer should publicly denounce that racist statement. Otherwise that makes all of them co-conspirators (e.g., racists as well). Also, “dad” needs to rein in his stupid daughter. It’s quite apparent he’s raised a racist of his own. Way to go, Jean D.
    Berrouet & Dargenson = Dumb & Dumber.

  2. This is racist in every way, shape, form and fashion… This should be national news not just something held quiet locally. You were certainly right by stating the flip side, if it were you or I, by stating we might have an all black council would immediately propel us into a racist category. How low can you go is what remains to be seen.

  3. What these poor pathetic clowns are forgetting, or trying to get us to forget, is that in the eyes of our local population, they are not black, they are Haitian, and it is NOT the same thing.
