Why so upset, Officer?

NMB PD cars“I just wanted to drive for a little bit.”

So said Stalyn Enriquez Hernandez when he was picked up and arrested for stealing a North Miami Beach police car yesterday.  According to Channel 7, Hernandez simply walked up to the police station, saw the car and thought it was a good idea to take it for a joyride.  “A short time later, officers noticed the vehicle traveling northbound along West Dixie Highway and Northeast 172nd Street. Police pulled up in front of the vehicle.”  He rolled down the window and got himself arrested.

Hernandez doesn’t look too upset by his little adventure.  In fact, he even looks pretty darned thrilled at the chance to get three hots and a cot for a while, since the news report claims he’s homeless.

Homeless or not, Hernandez may not be as dumb as he looks.  He’s apparently smarter than the cop who left his keys in an unlocked police car.

Also glaringly obvious is the fact that he’s a Hurricanes fan.  Not surprised.  No self-respecting Gator would attempt such an idiotic trick.  Hernandez should be further humiliated when Florida kicks Miami’s ass next Saturday in Miami.  GO GATORS!  (Sorry, I just had to throw that in for good measure.)

In the meantime, I’m nominating Stalyn Enriquez Hernandez for a 2013 Darwin Award.

  1. Your right Steph … no self-respecting Gator would attempt such a trivial violation of the law such as stealing a police car. They’re more apt for murder … who comes to mind? Oh yeah, a guy with the same last name … Hernandez! Wonder if they are related??!!
Just pokin a little fun, you left yourself open for that one! Love your articles, most of them anyway, keep spreadin’ the wealth!!

    1. Of course, you can poke fun. I leave myself open and welcome it. Unlike Hurricane fans, Gators have a sense of humor.

While we’re at it, if you want to talk about scandals do the terms Miami Rule, FIU brawl, pay-for-play, and Nevin Shapiro sound familiar? Just saying.

Thanks for reading my blog. 🙂
