Hey, Chief Lenny. How are those Aventura crime stats working out for ya? (UPDATED)

WSVN 7News just reported that two twin 15-year old girls were shot early this morning in North Miami in the vicinity of northwest 122nd Street and 10th Avenue.

The teenagers were transported to Jackson with non-life threatening injuries.

Apparently, the victims were never advised that the Crime Index for North Miami “is the same as the City of Aventura.”

Other than that, no other details are available as yet.

It appears, however, that North Miami Police Chief Leonard Burgess will have his work cut out for him today.  He might have to actually solve a crime, and maybe, just maybe, earn his annual $128,481.60 salary for a change.

  1. North Miami has gone downhill so much in the past dozen or so years that it’s astonishing that anybody is buying a home in the city. Obviously, those new to the city that are spending a million, and much more, for homes in Keystone Point and San Souci don’t realize that their exorbitant property taxes are supporting most of the city. And it’s a city administration that doesn’t give a damn how much they crap up North Miami. The only thing that the majority of the City Council cares about is that the EAST side of the city supports North Miami.

Police Chief Leonard Burgess should have been terminated and Michael Etienne, the City clerk, should have been disciplined by the Florida Bar. What an unbelievable pathetic combination and how dangerous for the city. North Miami used to be considered one of the nicest and safest places to live. Not anymore!

How unbelievably stupid for some in the city to let former North Miami Mayor Kevin Burns attempt to control what is going on, including development. He is a paid lobbyist, nothing more! And if he still owes any election fees or financial reports to the city he shouldn’t even be allowed to present any project to the council.

There should also be a ruling that anybody who would benefit from development financially is forbidden from serving on any board or committee that has any input into changing the comprehensive plan. Another big question is why there is no anticipated development on NW 7th Avenue? This is a direct route to downtown Miami and close to all highways. This area should be a major concern for the city’s development. Councilman Alix Desulume, it’s time to really fight for District 4! And why was Councilman Philippe Bien-Aime so concerned about a massive building east of Biscayne Blvd. on NE 123rd St. behind the Walgreen’s that the residents in the area are very much opposed to? What’s the payoff for him?

And the hits just keep on coming!
