NMB POLICE ARREST SEVEN ULETA BURGLARS IN-PROGRESS

Date / Time:  Sunday March 11, 2012 at 5 p.m.

Case number:  2012-0311-07

Location:    85 NE 174 Dr, North Miami Beach, FL 33162

Narrative:

On Sunday March 11th at about 5 p.m. an alert neighbor saw seven subjects cutting and removing exterior electrical cables, wires, and breakers from the rear of a home located at 85 NE 174 Drive in North Miami Beach. The black male subjects also removed a screen and attempted to gain entry into the house by way of a rear window.   Before entry could be gained, the neighbor called police, yelled at the seven subjects, and chased them away.  Other neighbors also witnessed the seven subjects and began to chase after them as they ran away.  No property was taken, as no entry was gained.

As North Miami Beach Police units arrived the complainant advised where the subjects were last observed running.  A perimeter was established and K-9 units (Ofc. C. Lystad and Sgt. T. Scott) began a systematic search of the area.  Additionally, a Miami-Dade PD K-9 unit assisted in the search. In total, seven subjects were located by K-9 units, arrested, and charged with attempt burglary accordingly.  Neighbors were able to positively identify all 7 burglars.  There is no surveillance video in this case.  This is another good example of residents watching out for one another and working with the police department to keep their neighborhoods safe.
