NMB: Where People Care?

Night OutWill you be attending the 30th Anniversary of America’s Night Out Against Crime event tonight in North Miami Beach?

Oh, yeah, that’s right.  We’re not having one.

If you’re interested, I guess you’ll have to go to one of the two events in North Miami hosted by the city, it’s police department, eight crime watch/neighborhood associations and a myriad of local corporate sponsors (including Costco, which is actually located in NMB).

As soon as I found out about this NATIONAL event, I tried contacting everyone I could think of in North Miami Beach to see if there were any events being held in our city, and if not, why not.  No one knew anything.

In case you haven’t heard about America’s Night Out Against Crime, which is sponsored nationally by Target and other organizations, you can read all about it on its website here.  Then you can urge your City Council to sign up for next year.  They obviously missed the boat this time around.

Then again, if you’re looking for something to do in North Miami Beach, you can always go to the budget workshop and the council meeting for some blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, that should be a blast.  Don’t look for me.

With all the political problems facing North Miami, somehow they still seem to get their collective act together when it concerns the community.  Why can’t NMB?

  1. The City of NMB not being a part of this shouldn’t be surprising. The Mayor & Council play the police department like it’s a chess game. The officers only see conditions getting worse.

    1. A couple people already took issue with my “reporting” of our non-event. Touchy, touchy, touchy.

      1. Keep up the good work. The integrity in your blogs (reporting both sides and calling people out) is refreshing.

  2. It would have been a great event to strengthen ties between residents and police – it is unfortunate that our council is not promoting this……
