Move over, Marie. There’s a new Queen in town!

new queenNorth Miami’s non-resident Mayor Lucie Coco Douce Tondreau sure gets around.  Yes, I know, this is not news.  But, I’m not talking about her love life.  I’m talking about her itinerary since she ascended to the Throne on June 11, 2013.

As I briefly reported earlier this month in Amateur Hour at the Courthouse, Lucie was spotted consulting with voodoo doctors in her native country of Haiti.  According to an article in Haiti Libre, this was an “official visit.”  By, “official” I assume this means the City of North Miami, courtesy of its taxpaying residents, footed the bill.

That’s not the only trip she took in her “official” capacity.  Mayor Coco Douce also attended the 81st Annual Meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors from June 21-June 24, 2013, a scant ten days after her Coronation.  Wonder what that Vegas Vaycay cost the taxpayers?  Try making a public records request.

Good luck with that.

I also heard that Lucie recently went to Orlando.  I haven’t yet confirm it, but I am guessing she went to the Florida League of Cities Annual Conference, which was just held in Orlando from August 15-17, 2013.  I can’t find the price of this conference on the League’s website, but I’m guessing it’s not cheap.

Lucie’s three exclusive “official” trips in less than three months certainly qualifies her to soon be able to usurp the crown of the current reigning Queen of North Miami, Marie “Antoinette” Steril.  Marie has been in office in North Miami since 2005 and has already cost the taxpayers a pretty penny.  For example, her Friends & Family Plan designed to get “free” residences for her peeps really paid off to the tune of $154K plus in taxpayer money.  Rumor has it that Marie’s brother is also in line to get a house, but I still need to confirm that one.  Yeah, I know…

Good luck with that public records request, too.

At the rate Lucie is spending your tax dollars (not even counting Ben Kuehne’s legal fees on the city’s tab), I’m sure she’ll catch up to Marie in no time at all.

In any event, if the pending residency lawsuit does not prevail, and Lucie Douce gets to keep her crown, North Miami taxpayers might as well as bend over and keep their wallets open.

  1. Posted a comment on one of the numerous Miami Herald articles re: Lucies Mayors conference in Las Vegas which started on Fri 6/21. She left the Thurs before and Andre Pierre went with her! Whattt? I questioned who paid her way but more importantly, who paid for his time and travel? Re: Andre 15 min of fame extension he sat next to Lucie on the showmobile at our annual 4th of July festivities. Been attending over 20 years and can’t recall a former Mayor doing the same. Also he’s supp trying to make a deal with the Ethics Comm about his free illegal stadium use for his “pick up” soccer games. The name of his soccer team? The North Miami Taxpayers. I wish I was making this up.

  2. P.S. Lucie also stated she knew nothing about Kevins lawsuit and she hadn’t been served. Why? Because she had fled to Las Vegas a day early to avoid that from happening. Can’t be served if you’re not in town. But never mind, nothing to see here, move along. Move along.
