Breaking News in North Miami

breaking newsI just received a tip that North Miami City Manager Stephen Johnson resigned his post to take a position as Chief of Police in Miami Gardens.  That’s all the information I received at the moment, but I’ll be on top of this breaking news and report back with any updates.

  1. That’s where he belongs. Can’t imagine how the City Council in North Miami puts up with him. Lucky for them. Now I wonder who their next manager will be.

  2. Actually, come to think about it, I wonder what Miami Gardens is thinking. When I said that’s where he belongs I meant him being back in law enforcement.

  3. Thank you Miami Gardens! We owe you a debt of gratitude for taking that brain dead village idiot off of our hands!

  4. This is good… but could be bad… depending on who comes in. With Steril and her ethics charge… does she get a say on this? Interesting voting numbers…

  5. What a wonderful change it would be to have a City Manager who has done this before and knows what is supposed to be done for a city. But then again, what qualified individual would take a job in North Miami?

    1. There’s so much potential. I am visioning Steril cant vote, Scott and Carol lead the charge – Lucy makes a good vote for a change…. then after an honest/open/transparent manager is hired (who makes public ALL the spending that is hidden)… a new police chief is brought in – one that refuses to play games or favors and gets our patrol strong again and crime going down — and all is back to a good direction. You with me?!! Here’s to positive vision for our city…

  6. The very first thing a new, honest, qualified City Manager should do is to ask the city council, if he/she can’t make the decision independently, to request an independent forensic audit of the city’s finances for the past two years. We know that Carol Keys and Scott Galvin would vote for this in a heartbeat. There is even the strong possibility that Councilman Phillip Bien-Aime would also vote for this. The tax payers of the city are entitled to know where their money is going. What are the odds of ever getting a new City Manage with the guts to request this? Zero!

    1. Exactly. And why not? What do they have to hide? (I mean not exiting Johnsons enormous salary/alleged raise/alleged car allowance/alleged insurance?) I mean they give you these lovely line items with totals but conveniently dodge telling you what was actually spent… Could Johnson be smart to be getting out now? Just askin’…. and how was the city paying all their bills without water bills going out? Always wondered that one. But I think there ARE good odds, at least not awful ones for a good city manager that may call for this. I am hoping for it. Now the Mayor may not want how much her drivers cost exposed and City Hall may not want to come clean about how much these early retirements are costing city and pension issues… but we just want to know where our tax dollars go. That’s all I think we’re asking. I actually don’t care where as much as I want to KNOW where. It’s the lack of transparency that I think should change. It’s our tax money we should at least see how it is spent, even if we don’t have a say about it. Just sayin’

  7. The council will vote on another early retirement package tonight. There go our tax dollars again for what? Fat pay checks to leave early at tax payer cost. I hope that they have some common sense and don’t pass something like this.
