North Miami Makes Another List!

We’re #25

Not only did North Miami make three of RoadSnacks.net ignominious Top 10 lists of worst places in Florida, the city was also just recognized by the international financial and business news website, Business Insider.

Just yesterday, Business Insider published, The 50 most miserable cities in America, and explained:

We’ve identified the 50 most miserable cities in the US, using census data from 1,000 cities across the country, taking into consideration population change (because if people are leaving it’s usually for a good reason), the percentage of people working, median household incomes, the percentage of people without healthcare, median commute times, and the number of people living in poverty.

Often, these cities have been devastated by natural disasters. They’ve had to deal with blight, and with high crime rates. Economies have struggled after industry has collapsed. These cities also tend to have high rates of addiction.

The state with the most miserable cities was California, with 10 in the top 50. New Jersey was second with nine, and Florida had six.

Imagine our shock when we saw that North Miami is ranked #25 out of the 50 most miserable cities!

Okay, we’re not really shocked.

Considering how many tax dollars are wasted on the astronomical salaries and benefit packages of the elected officials and the highly inappropriate parties they love to throw, as well as the bloated payroll slated for the Friends & Family of North Miami insiders, little wonder there’s no money left to fix the crumbling sewer system.

Not surprisingly, North Miami was ranked even more miserable than 24 other American cities notorious for its misery such as St. Louis (#49), Compton (#41), Hallandale Beach (#37), Fort Pierce (#34), and even its own next door neighbor, North Miami Beach (#33).

Which excerpt, by the way, ironically depicted a picture of North Miami!

Then again, the Greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce keeps claiming NMB’s Marina Palms development on its own website.

It’s only fitting that North Miami Beach return the favor.

Mazel tov, North Miami!

You finally got the international recognition you so richly deserve.

  1. Stephanie ….here are few assets and many liabilities …. Our number one asset is location as NoMi is between two major international airports and seaports …you will think that major and mid major corporations will have their hq in our city … But we are the home of most lowest denominators consisting of low paying jobs and retail/service employers like dollar tree (2) , family dollar (5), dollar general (2), and several knock offs, tarot card readers, storage facilities, convenient stores (7-11 paying their employees less than $ 10 per hour, and fast food joints including the Pollo tropical that got a nice CRA grant …maybe we should give a CRA grant to Wendy’s in helping them with their installation of their drive in window … Our number two asset is our inventory of well built and affordable single family homes in Sunkist Grove, Overbrook Shores, Breezeswept Estates, Griffing Park Estates , Iron Manors, Palomark Park, Enchanted Forest, emerald Lake, and Arch Creek Estates … Our number three asset is our active residents and our HOA groups ,who are not intimidated by our city with its retaliation tactics and business practices, by speaking out against their boondoggles and continuous massive deficit spending and advocating common senses agenda of focusing on basic municipal services of public safety, water & sewer, library, parks, and sanitation … Our fourth asset is our little library and our reborn MOCA museum which strives in providing educational and cultural services in our city …our fifth asset is our water & sewer system which is our cash cow that provides high quality drinking water to its residents and out the city customers in Biscayne Park, Biscayne Shores, and Westside CC Estates and Park .. Now it’s liabilities … # 1 is our dysfunctional city government of its elected leaders (i.e. # 1 priority is pay raises) and appointed administrators (i.e. Some of them got their colas and merit raises ) where our city tag line should be: ‘One Step Backward & Two Steps Backward” with its scorecard results of poor planning. & zoning policies and disastrous fiscal irresponsibility in fiscal affairs since Lee Feldman’s departure in 2002 as our city manager … As my Irish born dad will say, North Miami is a loser like just like Fins …number two liability is our misplaced priorities in not focusing on our most biggest challenges with an aging water & sewer system and focusing our energies on so called public art that no one can seen in hidden places, holding parties on every special event (I.e. Casimir Pulaski Day) except LGBTQ, Irish, or Italian, or building traffics circles & new community centers, and planting crapoy black olive trees that its roots evade into our infrastructure of sidewalks and pipes … Number # 3 liability is our continuous fiscal irresponsibilitirs and policies of not following our adopted balanced budget and achieving deficits results when it counts in the audit process of the CAFR …… 6 out of 7 years of overspending on what? … Number # 4 liability is our attraction in creating our own problems with our backlog of lawsuits from every Theresa, Dick, Harriette, and Pierre’s that our city government has screw over and treated badly … My common response is poor Jeff and Vanessa …number 5 liability is not advocating for the best of overall, community with its public schools and its public transit & economic needs where we sell out to career politicians in local county & state levels for measly and legal donations from their PACs and ECOs …I am blessed to be God that the spirits of Joe Weil and Pat Loffredo are alive in my soul
