A Message from North Miami Beach Commissioner Barbara Kramer

I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy as we navigate through these unprecedented times.

Usually during election season I’m out and about putting up signs and going door to door for candidates that I support.  No doubt, this pandemic has really changed the landscape of campaigning.

As you know, the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.  Whether or not you have children, the upcoming election for Miami-Dade County Public School Board will directly affect the future of our community.

I am coming to you today to remind you of an important election coming up in our School Board District 3.  As you know, Dr. Martin Karp is stepping down after 16 years of service to our community schools.  There are five candidates vying for this seat.

I am asking you to consider voting for the candidate I personally endorsed, Dr. Raquel Bild-Libbin, whose wealth of knowledge and experience as a mental health professional will be invaluable to not only District 3, but for the entire Miami-Dade County Public School system.

Raquel chose to run for the purpose of bringing to the Miami-Dade County School Board an important perspective many seem to forget … the mental health and well being of the most important members of our society – our children and the people who teach them.  These individuals deserve to benefit from the qualities Dr. Raquel Bild-Libbin possesses to champion them.

The threat of the Covid-19 pandemic has challenged our students with mental health problems even beyond the huge issues they already face, such as bullying, peer pressure, learning difficulties, social media attention and the ever-concerning school shooting scenario.  Parents, students and teachers need someone who understands the toll that these issues take on all of them.

We have enough teachers on the School Board.  It’s time for a candidate with a mental health perspective who will help guide our district with the professional, dedicated and authentic background of Dr. Raquel Bild-Libbin.

VOTE AUGUST 18TH OR BEFORE DURING EARLY VOTING OR MAIL IN BALLOT…MARK # 371 and let’s take care of our future.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to impart this message.

  1. Stephanie,

As I value your opinion from following you a long time as well as meeting and speaking with you at meetings before you moved. Are you going to be placing a column about the County wide races before Election Day on the 18th? I am also hoping you will place one on the candidates for Mayor and Commission of North Miami Beach before the November Election.

    Thanks

    1. I don’t think I’ll be weighing in on the County races, but we’ll see.

I will definitely be writing about the NMB election. You can bet on that!

  2. I have the pleasure of knowing Dr. Bild-Libben, and she is extremely qualified for the position she is seeking on the School Board. With background, education, personal and professional standards, she will make be an asset to the Miami-Dade County School System. The present chairman of the School Board is nationally recognized as one of the best; and with Dr. Bild-Libben elected, she will raise the standard further.
