North Miami: The more things change …

Remember that time mayoral candidate Jean Marcellus was punched in the face at his campaign headquarters by an old acquaintance?

Good times!

Mr. Marcellus is not the first North Miami candidate to be the victim of assault and battery during campaign season.

According to a February 16, 1950 article from the Miami Herald archives, that tradition began over 70 years ago.

Special thanks to Jim Garrett for this priceless gem.

  1. I got two more .. One that I witness in January 1980 as a 17 year senior at North Miami High School and serving as a volunteer theatre usher at the North Miami’s Southland Theatre on West Dixie Highway and NE 127 Street … In January 1980, it was the second year of Greater Miami International Film Festival and it was the first year that North Miami had a dedicated night at a designated place to be in the spotlight just like MoCA Museum has an early showcase night during Art Basel now … I was serving as one of four North Miami’s representatives on the Youth Oppportunity Board (God Bless Doris Jacobson who is heaven) and Doris “volunteered” me as one of the ushers for this special event … I was one of the people who broke up this fight between these two questionable charcters in our city history …

  2. Lol pulled their hair. I tell you about a crime, I noticed my house started shifting, water was getting under my foundation. I paid a guy $3,000 to fix it, 6 months later it got even worse! So I looked around for a reliable foundation company in Miami, Fl to fix it and that costed over $7,000! I swear all these guys are working together!
