North Miami Beach Vice Mayor Barbara Kramer endorses Antonio Ortega for Commissioner, Group 7

As a very passionate advocate for my beloved city, I am always involved in our municipal elections even if I’m not personally running.  This year is one of those times, especially because I am deeply concerned for the future of North Miami Beach.

While I always urge people to vote, and then hope that the best man or woman wins, I realize that the outcome of any given election is out of my hands, and certainly never guaranteed.  What I do know is that the best possible man for Seat 7 is NOT the incumbent, which is why I am endorsing Antonio Ortega.

Antonio has lived in North Miami Beach for 21 years.  He worked for the city as a dedicated employee for 10 years and is also a coach and member of the North Miami Beach Little League.

Recently, Antonio joined two very important committees, our General Employees’ Pension Board and the Redevelopment Advisory Board. Candidate Ortega is a team player. He has demonstrated his devotion to our city by joyfully showing up to all of our events and getting involved in helping distribute food and supplies to those in need during these difficult times.

I would be remiss in my endorsement of Antonio Ortega if I didn’t explain thoroughly why he is the better choice for our Commission over his opponent.

Incumbent Commissioner Michael Joseph is simply unfit for public office.  Since he was elected in 2018, Mr. Joseph has displayed the worst character traits that I have ever seen in all my years as an advocate and a Commissioner.  He is constantly argumentative and emotionally unstable.  Michael Joseph rarely contributes anything during Commission meetings, he never participates in any discussion on important legislative matters, or even offers an explanation or reason for his voting decisions, unless he has a personal vested interest in the issue.  He is unkind, unthoughtful, and has done appalling things to me and to others.  Michael Joseph does not bring a team spirit or collegial niceties to our Commission.

We are blessed to have someone of Antonio Ortega’s exceptional character step up to run for office.  His presence on the dais would be a much needed breath of fresh air.

  1. Would Mr. Ortega also vote on the new Dezer Intercoastal Mall and negatively impact the lives of Eastern Shores neighbors?

    1. Mr. Ortega told me he is against the project and would never vote for it. Unfortunately, the final vote is going to be held before the election, so the question is moot at this point.

  2. Thank you for keeping us updated on our City’s businesses, I will be casting our votes for #7 from Mr Ortega! Kramer that I respect so well for many years thank you for sharing her endorsement..

You certainly have all of our five votes as our family respect this amazing cities hard-working commissioner and Mayors work. Keep up with your honest posting God bless you.

    Matthew.
