RECALL!

Knowing full well that North Miami Beach City “Attorney” Hans Ottinot and City Manager Arthur “Duke” Sorey were about to be handed pink slips, Criminal Commissioners Michael Joseph, McKenzie Fleurimond, and Daniela Jean deliberately broke quorum at tonight’s Commission Meeting.

McKenzie especially had the absolute NERVE to claim that it wasn’t right to do something so abruptly without being able to vet replacements, when he and his co-conspirators, including the ousted Criminal Ex-Commissioner Paule Villard, rammed Hans Ottinot down the throats of Mayor Anthony DeFillipo, Commissioner Fortuna Smukler, and former Commissioner Barbara Kramer without being given the opportunity to even meet his new “attorney.”

Michael Joseph didn’t even bother to show up tonight under the pretense of having a “strep throat.”  He had no problem, however, showing up at last night’s Menorah lighting.

Daniela, who hilariously showed up in a mask after partying for weeks in close contact with multiple people, also pretended to be sick and walked out.

The Mayor moved to terminate the “attorneys” contract, which was seconded, and when he called the question, McKenzie stood up and left the meeting.

For the second time, McKenzie violated Chapter II, Article I, Subsection 2-2.1 of the North Miami Beach City Charter, which states [emphasis ours], “Before the City Commission can transact any legal business, there must be not less than five (5) duly qualified Commissioners present. Furthermore, in order to promote the integrity of Commission meetings and to ensure the performance of public duties by the City’s elected officials, Commissioners shall (subject to restroom or other temporary personal breaks, and subject to a Commissioner’s duty to leave Commission chambers during that portion of a Commission meeting in which the Commissioner has a voting conflict) remain at City Commission meetings throughout the entirety of such meeting, barring an emergency or other matter beyond a Commissioner’s control which compels his/her presence elsewhere, in which event he/she shall state into the record the basis of such emergency/other matter prior to leaving the meeting. Failure of a Commissioner to truthfully state the basis of emergency/other matter prior to leaving the meeting shall constitute a violation of this Code subsection. The Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust shall enforce the provisions of this subsection and may impose any penalty authorized by County Code pertaining to violations of municipal ethics laws.”

This subsection was amended by Ordinance No. 2016-9, and was necessary due to the fact that “within the past several months, certain Councilmembers have left Council meetings before the Council’s completion of agenda items, necessitating either the postponement and rescheduling of time-sensitive items for future Council meetings or the need for meeting adjournment pending the Council’s ability to obtain a quorum, both situations serving to obstruct and impede good, responsive government in the City of North Miami Beach.”

Daniela Jean and McKenzie are both derelict in their duties to all the residents of North Miami Beach by throwing a temper tantrum for not getting their way.

In the November election, North Miami Beach voters sent a loud and clear message that they were not happy with their local government and they demanded change.

Mayor DeFillipo, Commissioners Phyllis Smith, Fortuna Smukler, and Jay Chernoff are prepared to heed that message.

By refusing to do their jobs, Michael Joseph, McKenzie Fleurimond, and Daniela Jean have violated their oaths of office, and are obstructing the will of the people.

North Miami Beach residents deserve representatives who actually carry out the people’s business instead of their own selfish agendas.

All three must be recalled and replaced with elected officials who are ready, willing, and able to do what they are elected to do.

Let the petitions begin!

    1. Raise your hand if you were yelling at the screen on your computer tonight watching this fiasco.

The first meeting with the new commission was a disaster. It was painful. It was slow to get to agenda items and when the Mayor started his discussion time and asked about everyone’s feelings about the attorney, it became more of a disaster than the first two hours were.
Commissioner McKenzie acted like a child who couldn’t handle the classroom discussion and actually got up and left the meeting and I’m just like, what was that?

And then the Mayor’s house and where he lives and that whole thing.

Thought the election would bring better change. Nah

      1. Yes it was a clusterf**k. But Rome wasn’t built in a day. Outside forces may replace some of the troublemakers then the city attorney then the city manager. Stay vigilant.

  1. Recall petitions require the signatures of ten percent of the registered voters of the city…that number would be less than 1800 voter signatures. That’s very doable with the same teams that went door to door to get rid of the corrupt Paule Villardass

    1. There are approximately 23K registered voters, so more like 2,300 signatures. The goal, however, is to collect a minimum of 3,000 signatures since many will be disqualified if their signatures don’t match, or they are not bona fide residents. Unfortunately, some people in the donut hole don’t realize they live outside the city limits and will sign petitions anyway. The petition gatherers will do their best to verify but some will slip through the cracks. We need to collect way more than needed just to be sure we have enough.

  2. Get to work on the recall asap!!!! They will do this every time , just get them out , clean the entire house get rid of this corrupts!! The 3 of them has all this planned!! They knew what was going to happen and clearly showed everyone that it was planned!!! Recall thus 3 corrupt OUT !!!!!!

  3. Mayor Anthony DeFillipo should contact Governor Ron DeSantis’ office and Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office in removing two commissioners who walked off the dais in tonight’s meeting by committing misfeasance in their duties as elected city commissioners for the City of North Miami Beach by violating their city charter and their city ordinance on this issue. #BetterDramaInNMBthanNoMi

  4. WOW. After watching that debacle I sent the following to McKenzie Fleurimond’s e-mail:

    “Oh, what a surprise.
Michael Joeseph is nowhere to be found.
    Daniela Jean suddenly becomes ill.
and you walk off the dais.
    The meeting loses quorum.
    How convenient.
Of course, the three of you “CONSPIRED”.

You three can run but you can’t hide.

Wait till the ethics committee gets a hold of this.

The City Manager and the City Attorney have stolen more money than they have made for this City.”

As of the following morning, I have yet to receive a response.

  5. If you need some money to pay petition signature getters – count me in. The 3 of them must go ASAP BEFORE THEY DESTROY OUR CITY. We can not wait until the next election!!!
