After we posted our previous blog about North Miami Beach Commissioner Daniela Jean’s divisive public speech on public property, we received an official translation from Haitian Creole to English of her entire racist diatribe.
Here it is in its entire hateful “glory.”
Good evening everyone, it’s a pleasure to be here with us this morning/afternoon. The most important thing at this moment is a moment of unity for our community. Because we see not only in the history of NMB, in the history of Haiti, unity is the thing that is on the flag, but also in the experience of unity and strength, and we see this morning that is what we see today. Let’s applaud the city of NMB.
And we know that this year the city of NMB will celebrate its 100th anniversary and Dukens, we want to say welcome again and congratulations not only to you but to the entire team.
And we have a program that we will announce, the city of NMB is currently talking about starting a free soccer program for children in NMB. This means that we are partnering with Little Haiti FC where we have children from NMB who can learn to play football for free.
Let’s clap for that. Alright Little Haiti FC (crowd cheering)
As we see that Duckens is here, there are many children in the Haitian community who would like this chance to play this beautiful sport. So continue to connect with us. Not only that, I would like to ask you for something very special. We see that the Haitian electorate needs the support of the community. I say this in Creole so that we can understand. The community needs it, we need a serious back up at this time. Especially in the coming time, in the time of this upcoming election in 2026.
IF HAITIANS DO NOT STAND TOGETHER, WE WILL DEFINITELY LOSE THE CITY. I ask you with all sincerity to stand TOGETHER behind your leaders and all your FUTURE leaders coming after US so that the city can stand up and everyone in the community can receive what they deserve.
Thank you.
Obviously, when this historically bigoted public official says “unity,” she is not talking about uniting all the residents of North Miami Beach in any sense of the word.
By speaking her comments only in Haitian Creole, Daniela Jean is clearly only addressing the one-fifth of NMB residents who “look like her,” and ignoring the 80% who don’t.
Most troubling is her insistence that the only way Haitians will not “lose the city” is if they vote only for Haitians in order to “receive what they deserve.”
It does not get more disgusting than this.
Just imagine if a white elected official said at a city-sponsored public event, “If whites do not stand together, we will definitely lose the city?”
What if an Hispanic or an Asian said the same thing?
We’re pretty sure that none of this would go over well among North Miami Beach residents!
Like her racist mentor, EX-Commissioner Paule Villard, Daniela Jean actually believes that her “Haitian community” does not “receive what they deserve.” The truth is that they receive a disproportionately higher amount of the city’s resources than any other ethnic and religious group, which are practically ignored by all the “diversity” on the City Commission.
Daniela Jean was not elected to serve only the 20% of Creole-speaking North Miami Beach residents.
She needs to be reminded that the other 80% are also entitled to representation by all seven elected officials on the dais.
She also needs to be publicly rebuked for her racism and, hopefully, face ethical and legal consequences for violating state and local laws.
